A web application designed to evaluate, validate and classify

PEGI evaluates, validates and classifies video games to help parents make informed decisions about the video games they buy for their children. Their age ratings serve as a guideline of the age suitability, rather than the level of difficulty, of a game. At a time when the number of (online) games is soaring, PEGI needed a web application that lightens the load of reviewing and rating gaming content.

An extranet model that handles complex workflows

VOX built a web application based on an extranet model that evaluates, validates and classifies video games submitted to PEGI by game publishers. The web application brings together a series of complex workflows that takes into account all of the different stakeholders, such as the game publishers and PEGI reviewers, as well as crucial elements such as accounting and the licensing process.

As the UI designer for PEGI's web application, I was excited to design a user-friendly interface that simplifies the game review process for parents and game publishers.

Technologies we used for our web development

.NET

.NET (pronounced "dot net") is a software framework designed and developed by Microsoft. This is the main framework we use at VOX to build desktop and web applications.

Umbraco

Umbraco is an open-source CMS based upon Microsoft's ASP.NET framework. This is the main CMS we have decided to rely on for our .NET projects.

JavaScript

JavaScript is a programming language that helps creating dynamic web pages to improve the visitors’ interactions with the website.

React

React is a front-end JavaScript library developed by Facebook to help build modern, scalable and interactive user interfaces.

Figma

Like Sketch, Figma is a vector graphics editor we rely on for digital design, prototyping and team collaboration. The main difference with Sketch is that Figma is browser-based.

After Effects

In addition to Sketch and Figma, we use After Effects to create motion graphics and visual effects to highlight specific elements of a website and bring them to life.
